David Ellison, BA, LLB
David is a corporate finance lawyer who has practised law at major corporate firms both in Canada and the UK. He is the founder of Acuity Corporate Securities Lawyers, a corporate finance boutique law firm based in downtown Toronto. David is experienced in all aspects of corporate and securities law, with a particular emphasis on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, corporate finance and public markets transactions. He represents both domestic and international private and public companies operating in a broad range of industries. He also represents investment banks, investment funds, boards of directors, independent committees and investors on a regular basis.
Diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma in April 2016 that measured 4.2cm x 3.5cm x 3.7cm, David underwent Retrosigmoid surgery at Toronto Western Hospital the following month. As the tumour was intertwined with some of the facial nerves, it was completely removed. In August 2016, Gamma Knife was performed to deal with the bed of tumour that remained. David returned to work only eight weeks after surgery, and his hearing is better now than before. He has no facial nerve damage and experiences no balance issues or other neurological complications or deficits.
David attributes much of the reason that he was able to deal positively with his diagnosis and recovery to the support he received from ANAC, his wife Marlene and their three children.
