A Day in Review

The symposium opened with Dr. Gelareh Zadeh, whose remarks highlighted ANAC’s growth, patient-centered care, and ongoing research into tumour biology. She also announced her upcoming transition to Mayo Clinic, introducing Dr. Farshad Nassiri as her successor at Toronto Western Hospital.

Morning sessions featured:

• Dr. Anthony Zeitouni on surgical management and patient-centered treatment decisions
• Dr. Heather Baltzer on facial reanimation options post-acoustic neuroma surgery
• Dr. John Rutka on tumour growth patterns and “watch and scan” management
• Dr. Derek Tsang on radiosurgery fundamentals and applications

Afternoon sessions included:

• Dr. Megan Sherod, keynote on cognitive and emotional impacts of acoustic neuroma
• Drs. Farshad Nassiri & Alexander Landry on improving patient access to care and advances in tumour biology
• Dr. Matthew Mullarkey, bonus case presentation highlighting real-world clinical insights

Poster highlights covered vestibular rehabilitation, hearing loss treatments, facial neuromuscular retraining, and tinnitus management, offering practical strategies for improving patient quality of life.

The day concluded with interactive Q&A sessions, networking, and the launch of ANAC’s 5th Annual Virtual Walk, promoting community engagement and awareness.

The symposium successfully raised awareness, shared cutting-edge knowledge, and fostered collaboration, reinforcing ANAC’s commitment to supporting patients and advancing understanding of acoustic neuroma.
