Matthew Mullarkey, MD

Dr. Mullarkey earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Georgetown University and his medical degree at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency in neurosurgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and a fellowship in neurosurgical oncology and skull base surgery at the University of Toronto in Canada.
He specializes in neurosurgical oncology and skull base surgery. His clinical specialties include brain tumors, skull base tumors and spine oncology. He also has an interest in spinal degenerative and traumatic pathologies, as well as peripheral nerve conditions.
An assistant professor of neurosurgery at UTHealth Houston, Dr. Mullarkey has research interests that include developing novel treatments for high-grade gliomas and tumors of the central nervous system with a focus on oncolytic virotherapy. Dr. Mullarkey is the recipient of multiple recognitions and awards. He has authored peer-reviewed publications and has made national and international presentations.
